Student Accommodation, Oxford
Pro-Clad was used with an Austrian Timber Framed system for this Student Accommodation project in Oxford which was completed to an especially tight build program throughout the winter months.
The Main Contractor (Exel Construction) were importing an Austrian timber frame fast build system (manufactured and installed by EBS elk for student accomodation in Oxford and required a brick cladding system that enabled the tight programme to be met despite the poor weather conditions through an extremely cold and snowy winter.
As well as the weather conditions, the brickwork bond pattern was stack bond and this also meant traditional masonry was deemed inappropriate. Having looked at a number of UK and European systems, the decision was made to use Pro-Clad™ and the vertical columns were made on an special insulated SIPS version of Pro-Clad™ with horizontal panels and larger areas on standard stack bonded Pro-Clad™.
Despite temperatures as low as -10 degree C and at times 6" of snow, no site days were lost and the two buildings were completed on time to the satisfaction of all parties.
